The programme received an overwhelming response with over 200 residents registering for the workshop covering all of Koramangala.  Resident Ms Vatsala sang an invocation followed by welcoming of the participants by Mr. Jayaramu, President of 6th Block RWA.  Mr Jagadish Joint Director and Mr. B N Prasad Deputy Director of Horticulture Department, and Corporator Ward 151, Mr. Chandrappa were the main guests.  Corporator Chandrappa, always accessible, reiterated his commitment to turn ward 151 into a model ward.
The senior directors from Horticulture Department explained in a very lucid manner the merits of terrace gardening.  The 6th block RWA presented mementos to the distinguished guests and Mr Hegde from Horticulture department mesmerised the participants with the intricacies of terrace gardening.
His message was simple – with shrinking rural population, self sustaining gardening with vegetables etc is a reality – the sooner citizens embrace this, the better.  Apart from this it was a wonderful hobby with lots of positive energy and immeasurable benefits to the individual as well as community at large.  Mr Hegde also offered to conduct longer workshops with much more hands-on and depth of experience sharing with those interested.  Sponsored by Department of Horticulture, Government of Karnataka, kits worth Rs 1000/- were distributed to each participant completely free of charge.
The participants and the guests were unanimous in acknowledging and recognising the 6th Block RWA specially Mr. Sreenivas, Hon Secretary Mr. Suresh N Gowda and Joint Seceratay Mrs. Neeraja Shetty for their initiative and untiring work in realising this wonderful event that brought cheer to all those who participated.
